Student Conversation with Dr. Sa'ed Atshan

Join us! following his lecture “On Faith, Peace, & Justice: Reflections of a Queer Palestinian Quaker”, students will have the opportunity to engage in conversation over lunch with the internationally recognized scholar of Palestinian politics and society Dr. Sa'ed Atshan, Chair of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies and Associate Professor of Anthropology at Swarthmore College. He is the author of Queer Palestine and the Empire of Critique (Stanford University Press, 2020), coauthor (with Katharina Galor) of The Moral Triangle: Germans, Israelis, Palestinians (Duke University Press, 2020), and co-editor (with Galor) of Reel Gender: Palestinian and Israeli Cinema (Bloomsbury 2022). He is currently completing a book on Paradoxes of Humanitarianism: The Social Life of Aid in the Palestinian Territories (Stanford University Press). As an internationally recognized scholar of Palestinian society and Politics, Dr. Atshan’s scholarship has appeared in such media outlets as NPRThe NationLA TimesNBC, and The New Yorker.
