Brian Klaas ’08 is an Associate Professor in Global Politics at University College London, a contributing writer for The Atlantic, and an expert on democracy, authoritarianism, political violence, elections, and chaos theory in social systems. In addition to Fluke, he has written four other books, including Corruptible: Who Gets Power and How It Changes Us (2021) and How to Rig an Election (2018). After graduating from Carleton with a political science / history double major, Klaas received his MPhil and DPhil from the University of Oxford. He is a regular commentator on National Public Radio, MSNBC, CNN, the BBC, and many other international news outlets. Klaas previously served as Mark Dayton's policy director / deputy campaign manager in his successful 2010 campaign for Governor of Minnesota.
